A Sound Machine That Runs in Your Browser

Most baby sound machine apps want access to your microphone, send usage data to advertisers, or lock the best sounds behind a paywall. This one does none of that. Every sound is built into this page and plays locally in your browser — there is no account to create and no subscription to cancel. It works on phones, tablets, and computers.

Mix Sounds to Find What Works

Every baby is different, and what soothes one might not work for another. That is why this tool lets you play multiple sounds at once and adjust each one independently. White noise provides a consistent, even background that masks household sounds. Brown noise has a deeper, warmer tone that many babies and adults prefer. The Brown & White blend gives you the best of both — the warm depth of brown noise with a touch of white noise crispness for fuller coverage. Layer in rain or ocean waves for a more natural texture, or add the shushing sound — a gentle lub-dub rhythm that mimics what babies heard in the womb. The lullaby option plays a soft, repeating melody at a slow tempo.

Fullscreen Night-Light Mode

Tap the fullscreen button and your screen becomes a soft, colored night light. Choose from warm white, soft pink, lavender, ocean blue, mint green, sunset orange, or a dim deep red for true darkness. The sound controls appear as a subtle overlay that fades away after a few seconds and reappears when you touch the screen — so you get an uncluttered, calming visual without losing access to volume and timer controls.

Sleep Timer

Set the timer for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. When time runs out, all active sounds fade out gradually over several seconds rather than cutting off abruptly. The countdown is visible in both normal and fullscreen modes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is white noise safe for babies?

White noise is generally considered safe when kept at a moderate volume. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping sound machines under 50 decibels at the baby's ear and placing them at least 7 feet from the crib. This tool gives you full volume control so you can keep levels appropriate.

Can I mix multiple sounds together?

Yes. Each sound has its own on/off toggle and volume slider. You can play any combination of sounds simultaneously and adjust each one independently. Try mixing rain with brown noise for a warm, enveloping sound, or layer in the shushing sound to mimic what babies heard in the womb.

Does the sleep timer fade out the sounds?

Yes. When the sleep timer runs out, all active sounds fade out gradually over several seconds rather than stopping abruptly, so your baby is not startled awake.

Will the sounds keep playing if I lock my phone?

It depends on the browser and device. On most Android devices with Chrome, audio continues in the background. On iPhones with Safari, audio may pause when the screen locks. Keeping the browser tab active and the screen on (with brightness dimmed) ensures uninterrupted playback.
