Building Your Baby Registry

Preparing for a new baby involves a lot of shopping, and it can be hard to keep track of what you still need. This checklist starts you off with 47 commonly recommended items across 8 categories: nursery, feeding, clothing, diapering, bath and grooming, travel and gear, health and safety, and play and development. You can check items off as you buy them, add your own items, remove ones that do not apply, and create entirely new categories.

How This Checklist Works

Every item has a checkbox to mark it as purchased, plus an optional notes field where you can jot down things like brand names, prices, or who gifted it. Your progress is tracked automatically with overall and per-category counts. Use the filter buttons to see only what is remaining or only what you have already bought. The entire list is saved in your browser so it is there every time you come back.

Exporting and Sharing

Use the Export CSV button to download your checklist as a spreadsheet-friendly file. You can open it in Excel or Google Sheets, share it with your partner or family, or print it out. If someone sends you a CSV list, use Import to load it in. Importing replaces your current checklist, so export first if you want to keep what you have.

Customizing Your List

Every family is different. You might not need a breast pump or might want to add a specific brand of stroller. Delete items you do not need, add items to any existing category, or create a whole new category like "Hand-Me-Downs" or "Gifts Received." The checklist adapts to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to buy for a new baby?

A typical baby registry includes items across several categories: nursery essentials (crib, mattress, monitor), feeding supplies (bottles, breast pump, high chair), clothing (onesies, sleepers, seasonal outerwear), diapering (diapers, wipes, changing pad), bath and grooming items, travel gear (car seat, stroller, carrier), health and safety supplies, and toys for early development. This checklist includes 47 items across 8 categories to help you get started.

Is my baby registry data saved?

Yes. Your checklist is automatically saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It persists between sessions with no sign-up required. You can also export your list as a CSV file for backup or to share with family. No data is ever sent to a server.

Can I add my own items to the checklist?

Yes. You can add custom items to any existing category, or create entirely new categories. You can also remove any item from the default list if it does not apply to your situation.

When should I start my baby registry?

Most parents start their registry between 12 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. Starting early gives you time to research products and take advantage of sales. This checklist helps you see what you still need at a glance and track your progress as you go.
