How to Play Blackjack

Blackjack (also called 21) is the most popular casino card game in the world. The goal is simple: get a hand value as close to 21 as possible without going over, while beating the dealer's hand. Number cards count at face value, face cards (Jack, Queen, King) count as 10, and Aces count as either 1 or 11 — whichever is better for your hand.

Game Actions

Hit — Draw another card. You can hit as many times as you want, but if your total goes over 21, you bust and lose your bet.

Stand — Keep your current hand and let the dealer play.

Double Down — Double your bet and receive exactly one more card. Available on your first two cards only.

Split — If your first two cards have the same rank, split them into two separate hands. Each hand gets its own bet (matching the original) and its own card.

Dealer Rules

The dealer must hit on 16 or less and stand on 17 or more. Blackjack (an Ace plus a 10-value card dealt on the first two cards) pays 3 to 2. If both you and the dealer have the same total, it is a push and your bet is returned.

Your Bankroll

You start with $1,000 in virtual chips. Your bankroll and stats are saved in your browser automatically, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off. If you go broke, your bankroll resets to $1,000. No real money is involved — ever.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the rules for Blackjack?

Get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Number cards are worth their face value, face cards are worth 10, and Aces are worth 1 or 11. The dealer stands on 17. Blackjack (an Ace plus a 10-value card) pays 3 to 2.

Is this Blackjack game free?

Yes, completely free. You play with virtual chips — no real money is involved. Your bankroll and stats are saved in your browser so you can pick up where you left off.

Can I split and double down?

Yes. You can split any pair into two separate hands, and double down on any two-card hand. Both require enough chips in your bankroll to match the original bet.

Is the card dealing random?

Yes. Cards are dealt from a shuffled 4-deck shoe using a random number generator. The shoe is reshuffled when it runs low, just like in a real casino.
